Philosophy
The University of Hyogo College of Nursing Art and Science is one of Japan乫s leading nursing schools. Our aim is to produce well-rounded nurses with high ethical standards and great respect for the dignity of life. Our students are tomorrow乫s leaders, and we seek to equip them with the advanced knowledge and skills needed to shape their professions by identifying and responding to the various issues we confront in health care, medical care, and welfare, from local communities to global society.
Admissions Policy
The University of Hyogo College of Nursing Science and Art challenges its students to demonstrate qualities essential to academic and professional success so that they may pursue rewarding career paths. Qualities include:
- All-encompassing concern for a diverse range of people
- Empathy and understanding for patient and family concerns
- Conviction in the power of nursing, and motivation to improve and learn.
- Outstanding skills in expression and communication
- Ability to integrate vast amounts of information, adapt to complex settings, and act autonomously
- Basic background in natural and social sciences, and basic Japanese language skills required to study university level nursing.
Curriculum Policy
The curriculum offered by the University of Hyogo College of Nursing Science and Art comprises three courses: General Courses, required for all University of Hyogo students (minimum 26 credits); Nursing Courses (minimum 75 credits); and Related Courses (minimum 28 credits). These diverse, rigorously challenging courses provide students with a holistic, multidisciplinary mix of scholarship and practical training aimed at instilling professional competency as a nursing practitioner.
Diploma Policy
The University of Hyogo College of Nursing Science and Art endeavors to:
- Build strength of character to enable graduates to interact and forge collaborative relationships with a diverse range of peoples, cultures, and societies; to respect the rights of all people; and uphold the dignity of all life.
- Develop the intellectual curiosity and independence required to study the diversified issues confronting societies and to collaborate and cooperate with other disciplines to discover paths toward solutions.
- Develop the ability to assess health and environmental challenges, and identify solutions through the practical application of the fundamental knowledge and skills acquired at this institution.
- Nurture a natural empathy for all in need of nursing, to understand and share in their joy and suffering, and to ensure that nursing is ever founded on a profound respect for life.
- Produce graduates with the initiative and skills to pursue interdisciplinary teamwork in healthcare, medical care, welfare and other fields, in addition to their nursing work.
- Develop a broad perspective allowing the nurse an overview of the entire community to identify and resolve its healthcare and general needs.
- Instill the vocational skills and global perspective needed to confront and resolve all health-related issues.
- Cultivate a desire to consider the issues facing the nursing profession and promote the advancement of nursing science.
