As urbanization brings about various issues, guiding densely populated areas towards environmentally conscious urban development becomes a crucial policy challenge. In the 3rd symposium, starting with the example of Ashiya City, which has maintained a pleasant living environment, specific approaches to sustainable and prosperous urban development were examined, referencing examples from Japan and Europe. It was suggested that balancing environmental and economic aspects is essential, based on the efficient use of low-impact energy and considering both soft and demand-side factors.
